We are a not-profit organisation committed to connecting planning and allied professionals with the not-for-profit sector, the general community, and individuals who are seeking assistance with projects of public benefit.
Our members are committed to public good outcomes providing free expert advice and services in the public interest.
Our projects address real community needs, support under-resourced and vulnerable groups, build sustainable communities and community capacity, engage in projects that impact communities from the outset, support improved public health and wellbeing outcomes and benefit the environments we all live in.
Pro Bono Planners Australia is not intended to compete with the private sector. We engage both in Australia and internationally.
Our mission is to achieve improved and fairer planning outcomes by empowering the community with access to specialised planning support directly in the public interest, addressing critical needs, and achieving public development objectives.
We aim to support the planning profession to dedicate a portion of its expertise for the betterment of society, both within Australia and internationally.
We foster and share the exchange of knowledge, promoting professional development, and collaborate on programs with counterparts in Australia and around the world.
We support not-for-profit organisations, community groups or individuals seeking assistance with public interest projects or cases, and are supported with access to expert planning and allied professional services on a pro bono basis. We also support international counterparts who wish to collaborate or are seeking assistance with projects.
We are committed to ensuring the projects supported by Pro Bono Planners Australia are in the public interest. While the category of public interest is not closed, it is distinguished from purely private or personal concerns and will always involve matters of broader community interest or benefit. We have developed a list of criteria, however it is easier to describe public interest by what it is not, i.e. not in the vested private or personal interest.
